Academics
Oak Hill Academy is a college preparatory school, and our academic program is comprehensive. Students take enriching coursework as part of a well-structured program designed to prepare them for post-secondary study. With optimal student growth in mind, we also allow for remediation and support as necessary.
Our Faculty
Our Oak Hill Academy faculty members are experienced and enthusiastic educators, with approximately 70% holding advanced degrees. They are also student-centered, intent on building supportive, accountable community within our classrooms and placing a high value on the teacher-student relationship.
Our instructors prioritize their mentoring roles in encouraging student growth. With faculty guidance, students learn habits of success, such as self-advocacy, time management, study skills, resilience, and critical thinking.

Tools for Success
Thanks to our small, tight-knit community, we know our students well, and we surround them with the tools they need to succeed. We help them build on their own strengths and fortify their points of need, and we walk with them through each step of their formative journey. The variety of our academic offerings are at the center of that process.
We offer all standard and advanced core courses along with an abundance of enriching electives and specialized learning opportunities in courses such as Equestrian Studies, Video Production, Astronomy, Personal Finance, Sports Medicine, Broadcast Journalism, Sports Management, Strength & Conditioning, and English as a Second Language.

AP and College Credit
Many of our students earn college credit in English, History, and Mathematics while at Oak Hill, through our partnership with Wytheville Community College and the Virginia Community College System. We also offer a host of remote college credit courses.
For students interested in Advanced Placement (AP) courses, our instructors teach courses in Calculus, Physics, Computer Science, Art, and Environmental Science.

Accreditation
Oak Hill Academy enjoys full accreditation from the Virginia Association of Independent Schools (VAIS), and is a member in good standing of the Virginia Council for Private Education and the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS).
