Yerrick Stoneman of Columbia, SC, has been named the next Head Coach of basketball at Oak Hill Academy.
Coach Stoneman presently serves as the Head Coach for boys basketball at Ridge View High School, where his teams have captured South Carolina 4A State Championships in 2018, 2019, and 2020. He was also a Head Coach and Director of Athletics in Galax, Virginia.
From 1996 -2007 Coach Stoneman served as an Assistant Coach for Steve Smith at Oak Hill Academy, during which time the Warriors won five National Championships. With the highly competitive and much-anticipated selection of his successor, Coach Smith said: “I am so happy and proud that Yerrick Stoneman, one of my former assistant coaches, is the next Head Coach at Oak Hill Academy.”
Yerrick is a graduate of Virginia Tech and is a member of the U.S. Army Reserve where he continues to serve as a Captain. He and his wife (Chelsi) are the parents of adult twin daughters, Savannah and McKensey–who grew up in the shadow of Turner Gymnasium on the OHA Campus. “I am humbled and honored to be selected to carry on the great tradition of Oak Hill basketball,” said Coach Stoneman. “I’m excited for our future and look forward to working with the current staff and the 2022-2023 Warriors.”
Yerrick and Chelsi plan to arrive in Mouth of Wilson later this summer and will live on the campus of Oak Hill Academy. Coach Stoneman can be contacted via email and social media.
