Why Are Virtual Open Houses Important?

Parents and families know better than any of us that finding the right fit for boarding school is a labor of love. Each child has unique needs, and while visiting a school is the best way to get to know the environment, it isn’t always possible to tour every campus and attend every open house during the search process.

That’s where Oak Hill Academy’s virtual open houses come in. These are online information sessions where parents and students can connect personally with our community. Run by our Director of Admissions, Mrs. Katherine Giszack, the virtual open houses feature need-to-know information about our school, but more importantly, they allow plenty of time for open-ended questions.

What types of students attend Oak Hill Academy? What kind of learning support is available for my child? Can my child arrive after the start of the school year? What is rolling admissions and how does it work?

As they ask their questions, families hear unfiltered and honest answers and feedback—not only from faculty and staff, but from current students as well, who are frequently in attendance. Families gain a behind-the-scenes perspective of life at Oak Hill—without the time and expense of a campus tour!

While virtual open houses cannot fully replace the experience of being on campus for an in-person tour, they can provide a valuable point of interaction in the school exploration process. After connecting with our community virtually, many families feel more prepared to make decisions about their student’s fit and opt for a personalized campus tour as their next step.

Oak Hill Academy offers virtual open house events via Zoom at least monthly, usually on Saturday mornings. No matter where you are in your decision-making journey, you’re welcome to attend to get to know Oak Hill. Find out more about how to register.
