Oak Hill Academy’s year-end celebrations

As the 2021-2022 school year comes to a close, Oak Hill Academy is proud to celebrate the accomplishments of our students and to carry on timeless traditions. The days of May are busy ones on The Hill as seniors get ready for graduation, all students prepare for exams, and everyone gears up for the conclusion of another year of boarding school life.

To kick off the events on May 1, Oak Hill sponsored Senior Sunday at Young’s Chapel Baptist Church, where the entire service was conducted by members of the senior class.

Next, the weather cooperated for a beautiful field day on Wednesday, May 4, where faculty and students alike joined in a variety of outdoor games, complete with watermelon. That evening, dozens of students involved with leadership throughout the year gathered for a special dinner and time of reflection.

All work and no play? Not for OHA seniors! Thurday, May 5 was Senior Skip Day — a time when the seniors enjoyed a well-deserved chance to sleep in, followed by a day of activities, including dinner and a movie.

The last weekend of the school year was packed with academic awards, a school-wide picnic, the Senior Breakfast and a lovely Baccalaureate Service. As everyone geared up for the final week of school, all were invited to join in for Bingo Fun Night, complete with prizes and in support of the Ronald McDonald House on Sunday evening.

Monday, May 9, found faculty, staff and students savoring the mountain air as they gathered for a bonfire and lawn games. Soon, it would be time for exam review sessions and final examinations from Wednesday through Friday. The annual faculty and staff vs. students softball game took place on Wednesday evening and was filled with friendly competition. After students completed their exams, the school community gathered together for Academy Awards on Friday night, followed by a Senior Reception.

At last came the moment everyone had been waiting for… graduation! Saturday, May 14, dawned on the campus of Oak Hill Academy as friends and families from around the world convened for the 2022 commencement ceremony.

Truly, 2021-2022 has been a special year of living, learning and growing at Oak Hill Academy. #WarriorWellness
