Excitement at the Girls’ Volleyball Home Opener

by Journalism students AJ B. ’20 and Ramsey R. ’20

The Oak Hill Academy Lady Warriors Volleyball Team took the home court September 10th in its season opening match against Appalachian Christian Academy from Rural Retreat, Virginia. Turner Gymnasium was filled with cheers from student fans. The team worked together well by calling for the ball, covering as players moved positions, and passing the ball to volley.

Maria L. ’20 led the team in sets during this match-up, passing the ball to other players. Jade R. ’20 and Andie S. ’21 put many points on the board with strong serving. Candace D. ’22 dominated the net with her blocks.

Coach Brooks said, “The team has a good feel, and is better each time they take the court.” The Lady Warriors put more points on the board with each game. Final scores, in favor of Appalachian Christian Academy, were 11-25, 15-25, and 23-25.
